Entering the warehouse feeling restaurant, I was greeted by a very nice waitress who offered any seat I'd like. I ordered ice tea and a two meat combo plate and onion rings. It arrived very quickly piled high including Texas toast and cole slaw. The ribs were fall off the bone tender with great flavor. The shredded brisket although ample was dry and chewey. No amount of sauce made it good. The cole slaw was good but recognized it to be from Sam's Club. Onion rings were so good and ample. For a $22 meal I would have expected better.

First, the impression of the place was that of a cafeteria; Folding tables as seating. FLIES WERE EVERYWHERE; landing on tables, windows, condiments, buzzing around our heads, etc-GROSS. Ordered the three meat dinner (Ribs, brisket, and pork) with sides of onion rings (that others said were good) and sweet potato fries. The plate arrived and looked like one big fried mess. The ribs were big and actually not too bad (5/10). The pork was dry but super greasy and nasty. The brisket was soaked in grease and had the consistency of pulled pork, also nasty. Onions rings were soaked in grease, were mostly batter, and were overcooked. Sweet potato fries were also over cooked and clearly came from a frozen bag. Overall this place is terrible and should be ashamed that they are serving food like this in Kansas. I'm from CT and hoped to get some good BBQ out here; boy was I wrong.

This was recommended by a local but we were disappointed. The ribs and pulled pork were tender but lacked a smoke ring or any seasonings. The sides of onion rings ( which were a frozen variety) the coke slaw ( which was homemade) and the nicely brewed ice tea were the saving graces. BBQ sauce choices were very good too. But there is definitely room for improvement on the prep of their meats.

The other reviews were spot on. Average BBQ. There were more flies in the restaurant than one would like. I get it no matter what you do, you will get a couple from time to time, but there were too many flying around for my liking ( seemed like more flies than customers). Food came out warm at best which was disappointing since there were only about 12 people in the restaurant. I ordered a 3 meat combo and I could not tell the difference between the pulled pork and the brisket. The brisket was shredded just like the pork. The flavor on both was meh. Maybe they were having a bad night. The ribs were pretty good. I will go back and give them a second try because of the staff, I will just order the ribs. Two stars for the food and I will give it the third because the staff was super friendly.

Plank's BBQ is a homey, locally owned restaurant, the type of place where you're liable to see multiple tables of customers waving hello to each other across the dining room. The food is very reasonably priced with your typical BBQ fare as well as a few other choices like burgers and chicken fried steak sandwiches. As of November 2013 they offered an all-you-can-eat BBQ buffet on Tuesday nights for $8.99. (Awesome, right?) Their ribs are first class, very meaty and fall-off-the-bone tender that rival some of the Rib giants in KC. I didn't have any of their other meats, so I can't speak about them - yet. Beans are of the baked variety, a little runny, a little sweet with some onions, and they include some brisket in the beans. Two flavors of sauce, one thin and slightly spicy (I loved it, but it's probably a little on the hot side for your average customer) and another somewhat thicker sauce with a sort of smokey / molasses type vibe that had very good flavor. The dining room and restrooms are very simple but also very clean. While the prices are quite reasonable, they do charge $1 if you ask for an extra plate to share. If I rated the restaurant on the ribs alone, I would give 4 or possibly 5 stars. However, I want to reserve judgment until I've tried more of their menu items and meat choices. I'm giving 3 stars for now, but I reserve the right to possibly improve this rating at a future date.

Went for a fast sandwich on a short lunch! Had a generous portion of Bbq brisket on a big toasted bun! Quick service even tho the place was 3/4 full! Hubby's sausage sand was just as good but the 'baked' beans were nothing more than Campbell's pork n beans heated up! Thus minus the 5th star! At any rate...we'll be back again!

Meat is very good. Pulled Pork is the best. Pork ribs are good, but some were fatty. Stay away from the beef. They did not do a good job on it. The sides were very "average". Service was good. Now -- don't expect much as far as the restaurant, but then it is BBQ and most BBQ spots tend toward basic as far as decor. So, if you are in Garden City and hungry for BBQ, it will work. But don't drive out of your way for it.

I hope this was an off day for this BBQ restaurant. If you look at his pix of the ribs and beans you'll notice the breast bone still attached, what a waste. Although some people do enjoy nibbling around the gristle. The meat, in my opinion, has drawn back to much, hence, over cooked. And that is what I tasted was a bit overcooked and tough meat. The tough meat being on the gristle end and a still present flap. These ribs were close to if not a 5 pound rack, any good BBQ smokes 3 and 1/2's and down. Finally there was little to no smoke flavor nor a smoke ring! The beans were very good. The sauce was okay, perhaps a modified Cattlemen's Sauce. My friend had the 2 meat plate of which one was the brisket. It was served chopped and was dry. A review on another site suggested the BBQ would rival Kansas City BBQ, I don't thing so! This is the only BBQ in Garden City, I would avoid it if you know BBQ. When I called to ask about what kind of ribs they serve the person on the phone didn't know what spares or baby backs were and had to ask the cook that answered that they were not baby backs. The waitress never came back to our table after serving our plates. I had to get up to get refills and again get up to get a to go box.

Wow! What a great lunch! First, ice-cold beer in a frosted mug. We ordered the Bravo sandwich which lives up to its name. One of the best best brisket sandwiches I've ever had. My son had the regular brisket sandwich and some amazing onion rings. Being from Texas our standards are high- Planks gets an A+.

We went here based on the reviews on Yelp. We alwaya seek out locally owned or mom and pop places. This place did not disappoint. Thr brisket and pork were good. The platter portions were very filling. The sides were delicious. My wife and I got four different ones and tried them all. Good stuff. It's not the best BBQ I have ever had, but it is very good especially for the price.

We were driving back from Texas through Kansas the long way home to California. In Texas we had the most delicious BBQ (Tylers) and we were hoping to find a Kansas contender. The meat was decent, but the bread was so greasy. It was like they cooked both sides in meat oil. It was a nice touch to try deep fried pickles for the first time, but otherwise not good. If you do go here I recommend only getting the onion rings, because they were delicious.

Excellent ribs just fell off the bones. The battered onion rings were good as well.

Smoked Sausage Sandwich, potato salad, rib dinner were all tasty beyond belief. Exceeded our expectations. Make sure to get ahold of the spicy BBQ sauce!
